My name is Morgan (she/they) and I’m an audio engineer and sound designer based in Chicago, Illinois.

When I was 15, I knew I wanted to work with music and sound somehow. I was taking piano, guitar, and vocal lessons after growing up playing games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I made a STEM project in the 8th grade talking about how the score of the movie Spirited Away affected the audience’s emotions on a scene. I wanted to make people feel certain ways through audio, but I hadn’t figured out how I would do that. Then, I heard the album In Rainbows by Radiohead for the first time and it changed my whole life. I remember the moment I heard ‘Weird Fishes/Arpeggi’ for the first time and thinking “wow, this sounds incredible, who did this? and how did they do this?” From there I did research on Nigel Godrich (the producer of the album), listened to every Radiohead album and all the material their members had made. I had no idea sound could, I guess, sound like that, and I knew then that that was what I wanted to do.

From there, I went to DePaul University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Sound Design and a double minor in Music Recording and Music Studies. I’ve been working as an audio engineer for live music and theatre, and a sound designer for theatre for the past 7 years. I’ve been so lucky to make this long time passion of mine into a career, and every day I work towards expanding my knowledge of the medium and doing the best job I can in any situation.

In my free time, I’m a major nerd. I play a lot of board games and video games (some favorites: Elden Ring, Persona 5, Dave the Diver), I’m a collector of Pokemon cards, and I have a regular D&D group I attend. I go to music bingo regularly and my typical hangout spot is the local karaoke bar (my go-to karaoke song: Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet). I have two cats, Gonzo and Toast, who are pictured to the side.
